Scientific Drilling is looking for a Quality Inspector (Electronics) to work at our Paso Robles, CA location.   Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging service company serving customers worldwide.  Our industry leading navigation systems provide definitive wellbore placement information, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world.  We are motivated by crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing electronic inspections of assemblies, subassemblies, parts, and components per IPC-A-610, drawings and specifications.
  • Examine and inspect items and equipment for physical defects, such as broken or missing leads, excess solder, holes in sealing material, unevenly wound coil, coating and plating blemishes, scratches, cracks, and chips.
  • Complete First Article inspections, supply data for engineering draft parts and inspect reworks.
  • Verify hardware on assemblies, subassemblies, and parts per the parts list.
  • Approve or reject items and accurately document the results of inspections and testing.
  • Verify proper operation and calibration of critical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Adhere to and improve safety standards.
  • Manage work station and practice good housekeeping techniques.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Pursue every job with drive and determination.
  • Use logic to solve problems with effective solutions.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the needs of the business.

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of basic Quality Control and Inspection.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and results driven environment.
  • Strong skills in math and arithmetic.
  • Ability to read assembly drawings, wire lists, parts lists, inspection plans.
  • Proficiency of measurement instruments and tools.
  • Self-directed, resourceful, detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to present oneself with professional appearance and behavior in accordance with ATC dress code and SDI Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to meet all SDI/ATC safety requirements.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to read, communicate, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers and peers, both written and verbally.
  • Adhere to established Company procedures and policies, work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
  • Ability to be a team player.
  • Must be tactful and able to resolve disputes between and with co-workers.
  • Possess the ability to be interactive with management staff and co-workers.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3-5+ years Experience in an Electronics Manufacturing Environment.
  • Experience in Quality Control and Inspection.
  • IPC-J-STD-001 Training.
  • IPC Applications Specialist (CIS) Certification or equivalent .
  • Experience working in an ISO-9000 Quality Management Systems environment.
  • Electronics assembly/test background preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
