Scientific Drilling is looking for Manufacturing Engineers to work at our Applied Technologies Center in Paso Robles, CA.  Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide.  Our industry leading navigation systems provide definitive wellbore placement information, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world.  We are motivated by crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems. 

Nestled between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the California Central Coast is the location described as the happiest place on earth.  Home to where others vacation, including 200+ wineries, fresh air, miles of beautiful beaches, and small town appeal. Our Manufacturing Engineer positions will be working in our Manufacturing department.

These positions will be responsible for planning the manufacturing process from initial startup for space utilization, process optimization, and work force efficiency.  The positions will also continually refine, upgrade, and modify the manufacturing process and incorporate new processes. See below details for specifics to each vacancy:

  • Manufacturing Engineer Case Hole Services: The ideal candidate will focus on continual process improvement techniques within Case Hole Service test department to promote test efficiency and reliability. They will also provide line support and in-process failure analysis to support production matters.
  • Manufacturing Engineer Wellbore Positioning Services: The ideal candidate will bring continual process improvement skills and have the ability to work in a clean room environment.  They will also handle day-to-day and time critical production matters.

Key Job Functions:

  • Assist in developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Carry out manufacturing process projects from initial start-up for space utilization, process optimization, and work force efficiency.
  • Assists in Continual Process Improvement; refine, upgrade, and modify the manufacturing process to promote efficiency, cost effectiveness, quality, and reliability.
  • Incorporate engineering specifications into design, process, or techniques and provide feedback to capture lessons learned.
  • Assists in design of various tooling to support manufacturing/inspection requirements.
  • Provides line support and in-process failure analysis.
  • Create, implement, and monitor key performance indicators and metrics
  • Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
  • Reviews drawings and specification; makes recommendations for changes to Engineering documentation through ECO/ECR.
  • Works independently and within team environment.
  • Adhere to and improve safety standards.
  • Solve complex problems with effective solutions in a dynamic environment.
  • May be require to work in a clean room environment.
  • Adhere to safety standards with Company HSE policies.
  • Manage work station and practice good housekeeping techniques.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical) or equivalent engineering experience.
  • 0-2+ years of engineering experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Other Experience (a plus not required): Python, C#, CAD, SolidWorks.
