Scientific Drilling is accepting online applications for the position of Senior Stratregic Sourcing & Procurement Manager located in Houston, Texas. 

As the Senior Manager of Procurement, Strategic Sourcing & Category Management, you will be responsible for the procurement of all products & services at SDI, as well as lead and manage all sourcing strategies & suppliers performance reviews.  You will report directly to the SVP & CPO and manage a team of senior buyers and sourcing analysts. While SDIs procurement is highly centralized in the USA, this position will be in charge of procurement of all critical materials and strategic sourcing for all our districts, distributed across 22 countries.

Key Functions

  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team in accordance with Company policies, and responsible for the overall direction, management, coordination, coaching and evaluation of the team.
  • Set-up and manage periodic executive level meetings with CPO & SVPs to review overall status and performance of procurement and strategic sourcing organization across the US, as well as dotted line buyer(s) in Eastern Hemisphere.
  • Manage activity and approval for T&E for procurement and sourcing organization.
  • Develop, lead and manage global Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes as well as MRP to optimize inventory levels using SAP MM and MRP modules and functionalities. 
  • Assist in the education, development, integration and roll-out of consistent Procure-to-Pay and MRP Inventory management processes and practices across SDI business units.
  • Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services up to assigned Grant of Authority in SAP.
  • Ensure accurate and timely creation of Purchasing Orders in SAP as per manufacturing demand forecast/plan based on MRP parameters, as well as monitor & facilitate Good Receiving activities & practices against POs in SAP with entire global shipping & receiving organization across 22 countries.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the development of training for SAP P2P using MM and MRP functionality across the company.
  • Identify, define, lead, manage and implement successful sourcing strategies, using a clearly defined 7-steps best practice strategic sourcing methodology.
  • Negotiate with external vendors to secure the most advantageous terms.
  • Analyze and re-evaluate existing contracts; Renegotiate, renew and/or discontinue supplier contracts as economically appropriate.
  • Implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate with key personnel to ensure the clarity of the product specifications " especially highly engineered products - and expectations of the company
  • Ensure vendor compliance with contracted service level agreements and contractual T&Cs.
  • Develop and manage a robust set of internal KPI reports for procurement, strategic sourcing and category management. Lead design & implementation of such KPI reports in SAP BOBJ/AFO/Lumira reports and dashboards, to have them available near real on multiple mobile platforms to Executive Team, in collaboration with the SAP Center Of Excellent (COE) team.
  • Identify and negotiate payment terms; manage and ensure adherence to payment terms by contracted suppliers; and provide reporting on payment terms metrics.
  • Perform risk management regarding supply contracts and agreements
  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
  • Manage strategic sourcing projects against a plan and objectives to ensure commitments are met by monitoring, assessing, and resolving variances in budget, timing or quality of work.
  • Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and exploit emerging opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration. Master's Degree preferred
  • 10-15 years experience in procurement, sourcing & category management.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP MM and procurement related t-codes.
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement process and strategic sourcing methodology.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Word, Power Point and Excel required, especially advanced skill set using Excel analytical tools for statistical analysis and advanced predictive analysis such as multi-variable regression analysis, correlations and ANOVAs.
  • Expert knowledge of SAP Material Management (MM), a good understanding of SAP FICO, PS, SD, MM, PM, PP, QM and DMS. Understanding of SAP BOBJ/BI, Lumira & S4/HANA Studio a plus.
