Scientific Drilling is looking for an Instrument Technician to work at our Applied Technologies Center in Paso Robles, CA.  Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide.  Our industry leading navigation systems provide definitive wellbore placement information, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world.  We are motivated by crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems. 

Nestled between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the California Central Coast is the location described as the happiest place on earth.  Home to where others vacation, including 200+ wineries, fresh air, miles of beautiful beaches, and small town appeal. Our Instrument Technician position will be working in our Manufacturing department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Test, calibrate and adjust precision electromechanical sensors to ensure adherence to established performance levels and product quality in a clean room environment.
  • Use microscope to perform essential job functions.
  • Follow blueprints, work instructions and wiring diagrams to test electromechanical sensors.
  • Learn through hands on training while focusing on achieving necessary level of proficiency.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Learn applicable IPC standards.
  • Strive for continual improvement to quality.
  • Work efficiently to finish jobs in a timely manner.
  • Work under the supervision of Lead or Supervisor.
  • May be required to perform functionality of product.
  • Adhere to and improve safety standards.
  • Manage work station and practice good housekeeping techniques.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Pursue every job with drive and determination.
  • Use logic to solve problems with effective solutions.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the needs of the business.

Education, Experience, Certification, and Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 0-3 years of experience in field or related area.
  • Experience with proper soldering techniques and ESD prevention a plus.
  • Manual Dexterity and ability to use common hand tools is a plus.
  • Microscope experience a plus.
  • Clean room environment experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
