Scientific Drilling is looking for Quality Software Intern(s) to work with our System Verification Engineers at our Paso Robles, CA Facility.  Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide.  Our industry leading navigation systems provide definitive wellbore placement information, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world.  We are motivated by crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems.

Key Job Functions:

  • Assist senior members of the team in the creation of manual and/or test automation scripts for GUI (software) or tool specific (firmware) applications per published specifications/requirements.
  • Perform manual and automated testing based on the test specification.
  • Report test results and log defects following defined test reporting procedures.
  • Assist in the verification and documentation of bug fixes.
  • Knowledge of systems QA/ testing concepts, processes, methodologies and programming techniques desired.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production a plus.
  • Knowledge of low power design and microprocessor interfacing a plus.
  • Knowledge of electronic measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes and multi-meters a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results.
  • Adhere to safety standards with Company HSE policies.
  • Manage work station and practice good housekeeping techniques.
  • Pursue every job with drive and determination.
  • Use logic to solve problems with effective solutions.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the needs of the business.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 0-2+ years' experience in engineering.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hardware debugging experience using JTAG, oscilloscopes, and/or logic analyzers a plus.
  • C/C++ programming skills a plus.
  • Experience developing and/or managing test plans a plus.
  • Experience using real-time operating systems a plus.
