Scientific Drilling is looking for a Logistic Specialist to work at our Applied Technologies Center in Paso Robles, CA.  Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide.  Our industry leading navigation systems provide definitive wellbore placement information, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world.  We are motivated by crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems.

The Logistic Specialist is responsible for performing shipping and receiving related duties on a professional level and works closely with staff throughout the company in multiple employee groups and with third party vendors. This position carries out responsibilities to generate shipping documents domestically and internationally, ensures and confirms accuracy of part numbers, quantity, serial number of physical inventory verses shipping documents for inbound and outbound, and process receiving in the SAP ERP system. The Logistics Specialist is also responsible to physically pack the material for shipping in boxes or pallets and load them into trucks using forklift following company operational and safety policies.

Key Job Function

  • Organizing all shipments in line with company requirements.
  • Ensuring the integrity of import/export documentation such as Bills of Lading and support documents
  • Timely preparation of import documentation and authorization for all domestic and international shipments.
  • Preparing and maintaining a shipment schedule and communicating to all relevant departments.
  • Verification of all freight invoices.
  • Maintenance of records.
  • Working closely with Logistics/Trade Compliance following all set procedures.
  • Review all import and export shipment prior to movement for proper HTS and ECCN codes, Licenses, Values, Country of Origin, and Weights.
  • Prepare SLI, SED, and Certificate or Origin.
  • Request and review quotes for shipments from transportation vendors where applicable.
  • Maintaining commercial invoices, packing lists, and all other required documents.
  • Responsible for ensuring Materials and Equipment deployments align with SDI processes and procedures.
  • Ensure timely updates of Inventory, Materials and Equipment movements on asset tracking database (SAP).
  • Effective Communication with vendors to ensure timely delivery and accuracy of Orders including third Party rework.
  • Verify all boxes and packing lists for accuracy and communicates discrepancies to procurement team, vendors, and other applicable parties.
  • Prepare and deliver goods and tools to appropriate departments.
  • Ensure and confirm accuracy of Part Number, Quantity, Serial Number, etc. of Physical Inventory verses Shipping Documents.
  • Finalize inspection of parts to ensure they are not of a hazardous nature.
  • Band and Wrap Pallets
  • Load and unload pallets and oversize Tubular/Pipes into and out of trucks
  • Ability to operate forklift.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and multi-task without becoming overwhelmed.
  • Must be familiar with packaging techniques.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to read, communicate, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers and peers, both written and verbally.
  • Adhere to established company procedures and policies, work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Must be able to work quickly and accurately.
  • Must be motivated and have attention to detail.
  • Computer Literate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Packing Techniques
  • Forklift Experience
  • SAP Knowledge
