Scientific Drilling is looking for an Electronic Technician II to work at our Applied Technologies Center in Paso Robles, CA.  Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide.  Our industry leading navigation systems provide definitive wellbore placement information, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world.  We are motivated by crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems. 

Nestled between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the California Central Coast is the location described as the happiest place on earth.  Home to where others vacation, including 200+ wineries, fresh air, miles of beautiful beaches, and small town appeal. Our Electronic Technician II position will be working in our Manufacturing Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tests electronic equipment using a written procedure.
  • Uses multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment to measure voltages and waveforms.
  • Troubleshoots test failures to component level.
  • Required to write failure reports.
  • May be asked to write test procedures.
  • Provide guidance and mentor other Electronic Technicians and Test Technicians.
  • Responsible for the electronic equipment and tools in his or her work area.
  • Identifies common failures based on troubleshooting.
  • Manages work station and practices good housekeeping techniques.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Pursues every job with drive and determination.
  • Uses logic to solve problems with effective solutions.
  • Performs other relevant duties as required.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must understand the functioning of a few types of electronic equipment.
  • Must understand electronic concepts and be able to apply those concepts to identify failed components.
  • Must be able to read and understand electronic schematics with limited guidance.
  • Must know how to use a computer, a keyboard, and a mouse.
  • The ability to use a word processor and a spreadsheet is preferred.
  • The ability to use correct soldering techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to present oneself with professional appearance and behavior in accordance with ATC dress code and SDI Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to meet all SDI/ATC safety requirements.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to read, communicate, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers and peers, both written and verbally.
  • Adhere to established company procedures and policies, work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed.
  • Possess the ability to be interactive with management staff and co-workers.

Education, Experience, Certification, and Training:

  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • An Associate's Degree in Electronics or equivalent experience is required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the field of electronics required.
