Scientific Drilling International has an exciting new opportunity for a Technician to join our team based in Aberdeen, U.K. This role is an entry-level position suitable for a candidate, ideally with a mechanical or electrical background, looking to join the Oil & Gas global service industry. In this role you will perform assembly, disassembly, maintenance, repairs and calibration on SDI's suite of downhole technologies and surface equipment. With a high level of mechanical and electrical aptitude, this role requires hands-on technical skills, the ability to work in a team, or diligently in a standalone capacity. A valid driver's license is required for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow a structured training plan, with defined competency requirements at each stage, developing the skills required to perform the following:
  • Assist in the function testing, assembly and preparation of equipment
  • Carry out inspection, maintenance and repair of equipment, in accordance with documented QA and safe working procedures, including non-conformance and corrective action procedures
  • Troubleshoot technical problems offshore/onshore and perform maintenance on computers and laboratory equipment
  • Calibrate, modify and suggest improvements for equipment
  • Ensure that records of tool operational histories, maintenance and calibration are kept up-to-date and are readily available, and where appropriate, utilizing SAP and company's own software platforms.
  • Ensure that Company QA policy and recommended operating procedures are followed and adhered to in the operation of all equipment. Also responsible for ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with Company policy and local legislation

  • Assist in training of new staff where appropriate
  • Perform other relevant duties as required by Management

Education, Experience, Certification and Training:

  • HND level qualified in either electrical or mechanical disciplines, as a minimum.
  • Relevant hands-on experience preferred.
