Scientific Drilling is looking for a Production Lead to work at our Applied Technologies Center in Paso Robles, CA.  Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide.  Our industry leading navigation systems provide definitive wellbore placement information, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world.  We are motivated by crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems. 

Nestled between San Francisco and Los Angeles, the California Central Coast is the location described as the happiest place on earth.  Home to where others vacation, including 200+ wineries, fresh air, miles of beautiful beaches, and small town appeal. Our Production Lead position will be working in our Manufacturing department.

The Production Lead position will be an integral part of the Manufacturing team in our fast-paced Paso manufacturing facility. Responsible for assemblies, products, equipment and personnel within an assigned group.  You will work with Manufacturing Engineers on products, procedures and troubleshooting, including proper documentation and ensure continual improvement to manufacturing quality and efficiencies.

Key Job Function

  • Responsible for all assemblies, products, equipment and personnel within assigned work group. This is a working position.
  • Accountable for team and production requirements, must possess knowledge and ability to fill in for all levels under your direction.
  • Management and supervision of a multi-disciplinary team of Manufacturing Assemblers and responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the team.
  • Ensure that safety is the highest priority.
  • Ensure continual improvement to manufacturing quality and efficiencies.
  • Must possess and maintain current/valid IPC Certification.
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are being performed, including housekeeping.
  • Take directive from Planning and Management to ensure that jobs are completed on time.
  • Train personnel on processes, equipment and techniques including safety.
  • Lead team by setting the example and ensuring team adheres to safety standards.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers on products, procedures and troubleshooting, including proper documentation.
  • May be required to work in a Clean Room environment, must be able to adhere to the Clean Room standard operating procedure.
  • Assist with personnel matters.
  • Attend technical and professional training.  
  • Responsible for fulfilling manager/supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Assist in interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Foster team building and performance.

  • Manage work station and practice good housekeeping techniques.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience with proper soldering techniques and ESD prevention required.
  • 5 to 10 years manufacturing or related experience.
  • Requires good manual dexterity and ability to use common hand tools.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Possess and maintain current/valid IPC Certification.
  • Must complete and maintain five (5) day CIS required certification.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a production or manufacturing environment (aerospace, automotive, clean room or electronics manufacturing) is desired
