Scientific Drilling is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to work at our Corporate Headquarters in Houston, TX. 

Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide.  Our industry leading navigation systems provide definitive wellbore placement information, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world.  We are motivated by crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems. 

Job Summary

Demonstrates an understanding of and provides overall HR administration support of HR programs in the areas of policies, benefits, employee relations, and employee programs.

  • Functions as an advisor to managers and employees regarding the application (interpretation & application) of employment laws and corporate HR programs, policies, processes and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting the HR functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance with the laws and regulations, corporate policies and business objectives.

Employee Relations

  • Fosters strong employee relations culture through coaching managers and employees on topics including performance management, benefits, Code of Conduct, and business policy guidelines.
  • Provides coaching and support to managers/supervisors in solving employee relation issues, such as disciplinary action, attendance, performance issues, etc.
  • Supports and coordinates employee events, recognition programs, awards, activities, etc.

 Staffing / Workforce Planning

  • Assist in recruitment and selection process working closely with managers to develop job descriptions and manage requisition process
  • Responsible for employee onboarding including new hire orientation, completing appropriate employment forms; creating a positive first experience of the company
  • Maintains employee information and personnel files

Compensation & Benefits 

  • Assist in the all leave of absence management process
  • Is knowlegeable in the company's health and welfare plans, wellness programs, and assist employees as needed
  • Knowledge of defined contributions plans

Qualifying Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration is preferred
  • Five+ years prior HR generalist experience, preferably in a oil and gas environment.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Adapts easily to change, performs calmly under pressure and works effectively in ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information.
  • Strong technical skills / aptitude: Proficiency in SAP is required
