Scientific Drilling is looking for an Assistant District Manager.  As an assistant district manager you will be required to assist the district manager in day to day operations, field visits and audits, paperwork, invoicing and other client relations. Experience in this position will build competencies required for district manager position in the future. We are looking to fill this position in the following locations: Casper WY, Midland TX, Bakersfield CA, and Yukon, OK.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist district manager w/ day-to-day operations while developing skill set necessary to evolve into district manager role.
  • Oversee KPIs for district.
  • Manage specific aspects of district operations (Well Planning, etc.).
  • Handle special projects (rollout of new technology, facilitating a district construction project, etc.).
  • Represent district through client contact (supporting Sales, working through credit issues, etc.).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages subordinate supervisor(s) who supervise employee(s); is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units.
  • Also directly supervises non-supervisory employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • General knowledge of SDI's product and service offerings (directional drilling, mud motors, MWD, Keeper, production logging, MagTraC, etc.) relevant to the district's operation.
  • Communication skills (verbal, written and electronic).
  • Computer and data analysis skills (Excel, Word, Compass, etc.).


  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or business discipline.
  • 8-10 years of varied oilfield experience (field combined w/ support or technical), preferably w/ SDI.
  • Previous coordination experience.
  • Completion of several relevant skill level training courses.
  • Completion of industry skill level training courses (Murchison Drilling School, etc.).
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
