Scientific Drilling is looking for a Rotary Steerable Production Planner to work at our Houston, Texas Facility.  Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide.  Our industry leading navigation systems provide definitive wellbore placement information, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world.  We are motivated by crafting innovative and elegant solutions to technically challenging problems. 

We are looking for a qualified Production Planner to organize production according to demand and quality standards. This position will be the one to ensure our goods are produced on time for distribution in a profitable manner. An excellent production planner is well-versed in production procedures and ways to optimize them. They are organized and results-driven with great problem-solving skills. Advanced communication and computer skills are very useful for the role. The goal is to ensure the smooth and cost-efficient flow of our production operations

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Create and maintain production, work, and shipment schedules and prioritize job orders for production optimization and on-time delivery to operation.
  • Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectation.
  • Create and manage SAP work orders for internal and external repair & maintenance.
  • Assemble & Disassemble Tool Builds within the MRP/ERP software.
  • Manage implementation of design changes and upgrades with repair & maintenance workshop.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and inventory department to ensure appropriate level of spare parts and materials are on hand.
  • Manage work floor materials level at each work-cell location, including consumables, used parts, and assemblies.
  • Complete status reports and data analysis to monitor and evaluate production progress, work in process, raw material inventory, and finished goods demand.
  • Interact with shop floor on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies or to provide additional information as requested from Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Customer Service, Supply Chain, and Accounting/Finance.
  • Develop and drive to achieve both company and individual departmental goals.
  • Use production or reliability data to make suggestions for improvement in areas of cost reduction, processes, quality, and productivity.
  • Confer with department supervisors to determine progress of work against committed completion dates; and resolve production problems.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, including good customer service/phone skills and flexibility for handling a wide range of activities.
  • SAP user knowledge as ERP system.
  • Experience in production planning in an Oil & Gas Service Provider and Repair & Maintenance environment

Education & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent industry experience, and evidence of exceptional ability.
  • Understanding of ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Advanced MS Excel understanding with strong computer skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous planning experience.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in reading technical drawings, schematics, and assembly diagrams/procedures.
  • Capable to identify and solve problems.
  • Able to communicate effectively with managers and peers, both written and verbal.

Location, Physical Requirements & PPE

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 45 lbs.
  • Conditions may include working inside and/or outside at times. May work around machines with moving parts and moving objects. Working near radiant and electrical energy. Working closely with others or working alone. Working extended or irregular hours, and travelling by all possible modes of transportation.
  • Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing the essential job function include but not limited to computers and related equipment, calculators, copiers, fax machines, telephone and vehicles. Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to, safety glasses, hardhat, reinforced toed shoes, coveralls, gloves, and ear plugs or muffs.
