Scientific Drilling is looking for an Instrument Assembler to work at our Applied Technologies Center in Paso Robles, CA. Scientific Drilling is an independent directional drilling and wellbore navigation, surveying and logging Service Company serving customers worldwide. Our industry leading navigation systems provide definitive wellbore placement information, enabling safer and more efficient placement of tightly spaced wellbores throughout the world. Our Instrument Assembler position will be working in our Manufacturing department.

The Instrument Assembler is expected to perform the essential duties listed below. Candidates must have authorization to work in the United States.


  • Assemble mechanisms and sensors to meet precision tolerances and product specifications, in a clean room environment.
  • Committed to Safety as first priority.
  • Use microscope perform essential job functions.
  • Follow blueprints, work instructions and wiring diagrams to assemble electromechanical sensors.
  • Learn through hands on training while focusing on achieving necessary level of proficiency.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Learn applicable IPC standards.
  • Strive for continual improvement to quality.
  • Work efficiently to finish jobs in a timely manner, under the supervision of Lead or Supervisor.
  • Perform functionality of product.
  • Adhere to and improve safety standards.
  • Manage work station and practice good housekeeping techniques.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Pursue every job with drive and determination.
  • Use logic to solve problems with effective solutions.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the needs of the business.

Qualifications and Required Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 0-3 years of experience in field or related area.
  • Experience with proper soldering techniques and ESD prevention a plus.
  • Manual Dexterity and ability to use common hand tools is a plus.
  • Microscope experience a plus.
  • Clean room environment experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Physical Job Requirements

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs and ladders, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, lift and carry up to 40 lbs., operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.
  • Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing the essential job function include but not limited to computer and related equipment, calculator, special instrumentation, forklift, pallet jack, hand tools, power tools, air tools, telephone, and automobile. Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to, safety glasses, hardhat, reinforced toed shoes, coveralls, gloves, and ear plugs or muffs.
